TECHNOLOGY

At Saint Peter Chanel Catholic School children are involved in learning how to develop design thinking, that is to be innovative, reflective and critical in designing new models, products, software, systems and tools to benefit people, while taking account of their impact on cultural, ethical, environmental and economic conditions.

There are three strands and five technological areas:

Goals for all students

  • Intervention through a design process
  • Build knowledge of the technological process, language and materials
  • Use thinking skills
  • Understand the relevance and impact of technology on our lives and cultures past, present and future

Technology in action at SPC

In 2020, we held our annual Mission Day to raise money for different mission charities. Students spent Term 3 and 4 learning about the technology process and how to design and create a product that meets a need. These products were then sold at our Mission Day market. The learning from this inquiry was a huge success and so was the fundraising with over $5,000 raised.
