ENGLISH
Literacy in English gives students access to the understanding, knowledge, and skills they need to participate fully in life. To be successful participants, they need to be effective oral, written, and visual communicators who are able to think critically and in depth. Success in English is fundamental to success across the curriculum.
At St Peter Chanel Catholic School all children will develop their confidence and
competence so as to communicate effectively in a range of contexts by:
Making meaning by receiving (listening, reading, viewing).
Creating meaning for themselves or others (speaking, writing, presenting).
Goals for all children

To create by speaking, writing and presenting
To apply language skills in a range of purposeful contexts
To use and enjoy the English language
To use and apply these skills across the curriculum
