What is a PTFA and what do they do?

The PTFA (Parents, Teachers and Friends Association) is a friendly team of parents and staff who meet regularly throughout the school year.

Their aim is to fund-raise in order to improve the school’s environment and resources that otherwise the school would be unable to afford.

Each year they take on a project which addresses a need the school may have and funds raised during the course of the year go towards funding that project.

In 2013 funds raised were used for the improvement and modernisation of technology at the school.

In 2014 the aim has been to generate funds to revamp and update the junior and senior playgrounds and seating areas.

In addition to fundraising, the PTFA also takes on the responsibility of caring for our school community by providing support wherever possible to  the school’s pupils and their families.  They co-ordinate efforts to provide support to families with special needs when confronted with challenging life events such as death or illness or welcoming a new family into the school family.

Who can be a member of the PTFA?

Anyone who has children at St Peter Chanel Catholic School is automatically a member.  From this pool of people, each year a committee is gathered and co-ordinates and facilitates the PTFA's work.

What can you do to help the PTFA?

From time to time you may be called upon to help out by either donating your time, your skills, a plate of baking or perhaps a meal for a family in need.
